New Mexico Cooper's Hawk Demographic Study

The New Mexico Cooper’s hawk demographic study was started in 2011 by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and New Mexico State University (NMSU) as a long-term project to collect detailed information on mechanisms of population regulation in raptors. The overall aim is to improve understanding of raptor population ecology to advance population models used by the USFWS to evaluate the consequences of different management scenarios for other declining and imperiled raptors.
