Abstract
I wrote this while thinking about some of the people closest to me in my life and the feelings that they have experienced while living in a small town like Las Cruces. I felt inspired by this struggle and conflict between the people who make you happy and the place that makes you miserable and I wanted to explore that conflict in my own writing. This story is meant to be a sort of look into dealing with trauma and guilt, and how that all intertwines with the memories of the narrator and their love. I wanted to write something raw and real that explores repressed emotions and memories.
