About This Journal
The Agora is a student-edited, non-technical journal of undergraduate research and creative activity. It is a joint initiative of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (CURCA) and the NMSU Library.
The Agora’s purpose is to provide a public dissemination venue for a broad range of research and creative efforts, to inform others and inspire interest in undergraduate scholarship, and to build connections for student researchers and creators within and beyond our academic community.
Mission Statement
The Agora aims to showcase NMSU undergraduate research and creative work, provide students with opportunities for peer-reviewed publication, and foster and recognize mentorship of undergraduates in all disciplines.
Meaning Behind The Name
Our name, The Agora comes from the Greek noun, agorá, referring to a marketplace within the community that served as an open forum for citizens to come together and engage in an expansive range of activities. Likewise, our journal aims to be an interdisciplinary publication in celebration of the diverse community that makes up NMSU. Thus, The Agora was named, as we strive to make it resemble a ‘marketplace,’ of sorts, for ideas and learning.
